Meet Our General Manager Kevin Lynch

Next time you’re eating a delicious meal at Reel Seafood, be sure to say hello to our General Manager, Kevin Lynch! Kevin is the go-to guy for everything that goes on at your favorite seafood restaurant. Some of his everyday tasks include identifying new and unique wines and beers to pair with our meals, managing the staff, organizing events for large parties and booking musicians to play at our weekly brunches and on our patio — and that’s only naming a few. It’s a good thing then, for him and us both, that his favorite part of working in the restaurant industry is the constant surprises and challenges that come along with the job.

We’ve been fortunate enough to have Kevin with us at Reel Seafood the last 11 months, but his passion for the business started much earlier. A native of Brookview, a town located near Schodack, Kevin began busing tables at 16-years-old and hasn’t looked back since. Just some of the notable moments in his forty-year-plus career include helping open the Planet Hollywood in Times Square and working for Steve Wynn, at the Golden Nugget and The Mirage, in Las Vegas.

If you’ve been enjoying our wonderful nights of live music, Kevin is the one you should thank. His favorite thing to do during his free time is to attend live entertainment events around the Capital Region. He even mentions that the process of booking artists for Reel Seafood has helped expose him to new genres and sounds. A recent standout, for him, was The Roben Kosek Jazz Trio. Unsurprisingly, the audience at our restaurant felt the same way — the group returns on September 27th for another great performance!

Overall though, what Kevin loves most about working at Reel Seafood, are our many regulars — those who return to celebrate their special occasions with us time and time again. Just ask, and he will happily tell you the story of one woman, in particular, a frequent visitor of Reel Seafood for over twenty-five years, who marked her 104th birthday at the restaurant. The bonus of being surrounded by some of the freshest seafood in Albany doesn’t hurt either — Kevin especially enjoys the Cioppino, a dish which includes a half-pound Maine lobster, diver scallops, gulf shrimp, calamari, P.E.I mussels, clams, and king crab legs in a tomato-fennel broth.
